What are dental implants?

Dental implants are one way of replacing missing teeth. A post is planted in the jaw bone to support a replacement tooth. This acts like the root of a natural tooth. Implants can also be used to support fixed bridges or dentures.

Implant treatment normally has two stages. First, the implant is placed in the jaw. Then, when the jaw has healed, replacement teeth are attached to the implant. In some situations it is possible for temporary teeth to be attached to an implant at the time of fitting.

Would implants be right for me?

First, you should decide whether implants could be right for you. Contact us to arrange an implant consultation and discussion and we will let you know the possibilities. Our team will be only too happy to help you with any questions you may have.

If you decide to go ahead, this is what will happen.

• Implants are put into holes in the jaw with a local anaesthetic. You can opt to have sedation for this procedure also.
• The implant is screwed or pushed in and the gum is stitched so that it heals over the implant
• Under the gum. the bone then grows round the implant to hold it firm. This takes several months.

Implants usually have two sections – the post in the jaw and an extension that is added later when the post is secure. Attaching the extension needs a small cut in the gum above the implant. You might have more than one implant. The replacement teeth might be fixed permanently (like a crown or bridge) or attached in a way which lets you remove them for cleaning (like a denture).

Patients must be dentally fit to proceed with implant treatment. Whether a patient is deemed dentally fit for treatment will be at the clinician’s absolute discretion. Additional treatment required to make a patient dentally fit and suitable for implants will be charged at an additional cost. Appointments are subject to availability. The implant discount is non-exchangeable, non-transferable, and is not redeemable for cash or other treatments. All sales are final. In the event that North Street Dental is not able to facilitate an appointment scheduled in relation to this offer, North Street Dental will use best efforts to rearrange the appointment. Where the implant discount appointment must be cancelled in the event that [Practice Name] is unable to facilitate the appointment scheduled and cannot rearrange the appointment, a full refund will be issued to the patient. The implant discount cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer.

North Street Dental will exercise reasonable care to ensure that the treatment provided is safe and effective. However, North Street Dental cannot guarantee that the treatment will be free from all risks. In the unlikely event that you experience any issues; we encourage you to contact the Practice immediately so that we can address your concerns. Please note that this does not affect your statutory rights, including any claims for personal injury that may arise due to negligence.

Please note that the Practice accepts no liability on behalf of the treating clinician and acts strictly as a liaison between the patient and the treating clinician only.

Nothing in these terms and conditions excludes or limits liability for personal injury resulting from North Street Dental negligence or for fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability which cannot be limited by law. The offer is open to people aged 18 and over only. North Street Dental can vary or replace these conditions from time to time, at its sole discretion and reserves the right to withdraw this offer at any time. If any provision or part-provision of these terms and conditions is or becomes invalid, illegal or unenforceable, it shall be deemed deleted, but that shall not affect the validity and enforceability of the rest of the terms and conditions.
