I am delighted to have met Gabriela. I have been a patient at North Street Surgery since 1967 and have always received extremely good treatment from both Duncan Brown and Jolanta Skolmowska during all those years. I can say that the treatment I received from Gabriela on Tuesday was excellent. I cannot think of anything that I did not approve; she was extremely pleasant, caring, thoughtful. I enjoyed my visit.

Its the only dentist in Lewes that I can get into being a wheelchair user and the staff are very happy and cheerful and welcome me by name as soon as I appear in the doorway. They jump to my aid and going to the dentist is a pleasure! The receptionist on duty at the time of my appointment welcomed me into the building. Charlie my dentist again, welcomed me by my first name rather than officially Mrs Br! His dental nurse was nice and chatty and welcoming so we could enjoy a conversation.

I don’t suppose you often get emails from patients but I thought I should let you know how pleased I am with my treatment since I moved to you and how much I wish it had happened sooner. It could almost be life-changing!

Your empathy in general and your desire to help me to have a healthy mouth and feel as good about my teeth as is realistic, is proving such a positive force! Already, the filling replacement today has shown me that there is every chance I can learn to smile confidently again; just that one little adjustment has already made such a difference. I wondered if you’d mind passing on my thanks to Seema (and Sofie) for how brilliant and kind they were when I had quite a lot of work on Wednesday. I am anxious about dentists usually and having some other problems and they made me feel so relaxed and comfortable I wasn’t at all worried (with the help of magic juice!)

I have had zero pain, no pain killers required and the work is perfect. My family is amazed how quickly she did such excellent work.

Dear Martin,

I wanted to write to thank you for the kindness and care you have shown me as one of your dental patients. I have suffered terribly with mental health struggles over the years and have at times felt totally unsupported by my husband with nowhere to go. My teeth are a daily and constant reminder of a lot of pain, and therefore your understanding and kindness has been rather emotionally overwhelming for me. Every time I have visited you I have left feeling grateful and that I do deserve kindness.

To show this is such few words (and even with a mask on most of the time) is a truly wonderful thing. Fixing my teeth is a huge step and part of a healing process for me, and will have such a positive impact on my self-esteem, and self-acceptance. I’m not sure how many of your patients feel such positivity from you, but I can assure you it is probably very many more than you might like to think. People don’t talk enough about mental health, and far too many are judgemental… Kindness, support and care will change this… and that is what you have, and continue to do, probably without realising. I know I have (We have!) some way to go with my teeth but I wanted to send my true & heart felt thanks for what you have done for me so far. Thank you.

Being anxious of dentists, I came to my first visit to Charlie Wingfield. The helpfulness at reception, then onto the surgery where I first met Mr Wingfield, his gentle manner he listened to my fears. That was some years ago now and
his well mannered and professional skills have always been consistent for which I am very thankful.

Dear Seema

I do hope you have benefited from a break from work, and enjoyed spending time with your family, but of course you have been missed by so many people.

Going back to work will be hard, given all the precautions you need to take to avoid getting or passing on the dreaded virus, but I can imagine all the urgent cases leaving your surgery with smiles on their faces, when you have taken away the pain!

No doubt children will be a high priority for you – and doubtless it will take a long time to taking on routine cases like myself – but one day hopefully that time will come. Meantime, if toothache knocks on my door I will be on the phone mighty quick, being a total coward.

Can I take this opportunity of wishing you and all your colleagues every success as you surmount the obstacles facing you.

Dear Practice Manager,

Over the last few months I have been looking for a new dental practice for my 91 year old mum, as her previous practice I found to be unfriendly and too difficult to access.

We came along last week and saw Seema Yousef and I can honestly say we couldn’t have been treated any better. All the staff are completely focused on treating each patient with respect, dignity and kindness.

Having worked in general practice for over 10 years, I know that meeting patient expectations isn’t always easy but we were so impressed with the level of care and general ethos of the practice that we just had to write and say ‘thank you’.
